Can I install a parking lift at home?
Yes, depending on the strength of your floor. A typical two-post lift requires twenty eight drilled holes, and a four-post lift, 16 holes, which can be filled should the lift be moved.
Does a parking lift need electricity to function?
Yes, you need electricity to raise or lower a vehicle. The lift requires electricity for the electric motors and electronic control systems. While it does require electricity this power can come from a backup or independent source. To lower, the vehicle only needs to be raised slightly using electricity to disengage the locks before it is lowered slowly using no electricity.
Can I get a parking lift in the same colour as my car?
It depends. The black and blue colour options of the parking lifts can be altered at an additional cost to any colour. However, the finish will be limited to those colours available with powder coating.
Does my parking lift need to be certified?
While South Africa does not have a certification standard for residential parking lifts, there are things to consider. For commercial installations, the Occupational Health and Safety Act will require your lift to meet standards for workplace safety. For residential installations, local building regulations may require safety standards to be met.
